Who We Are

Veronica Paige

Veronica Paige

LMHC

I’ve spent more than thirty years studying human potential and have come to believe that helping people is my work.  My love for helping others find their true potential has led me into roles such as, officer in the U.S. Navy as well as, management consultant and business strategist.  This has given me the ability to see how power really works in the dynamics of relationships. It is important for me to help you to see your potential.  I understand what it is to feel stuck in our lives and lose motivation. When we feel disconnected from ourselves it is important to acquire deep personal healing. My role is not about creating a “new” you, but rather one of helping you find serenity and resilience in the absence of anxiety. My hope is that I can help you find your original self that you knew before trauma.

I have a BA in Environmental Science from UCLA, MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. I am a perpetual student and observer, continuing to learn new frameworks and techniques and integrating it with new learning. I have acquired a bevy of trauma-focused, mindfulness, and somatic therapeutic modalities. I also hold certifications in; Yoga, Lifespan Integration, Complex Integration of Multiple Brain Systems (CIMBS), The Resilience Toolkit and the therapeutic tremor.

I draw on a variety of evidence-based techniques tailored to your goals and life needs. We will work primarily in ways that cultivate your awareness of your body and mind, as well as increase your capacity to heal past trauma, handle major life challenges and transitions, and manage with equilibrium the daily “problems of living.” We will work in a way that helps you to explore yourself and answer your own questions about the problems demanding your attention, because that which we embrace, transforms in our presence.

I am fully trained in a method called Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Trauma Informed Stabilization Therapy by Dr. Janina Fisher herself. It is a safe, gentle way to process trauma.  With over 25 years of experience in the education and counseling fields.  The main focus of my work is helping those who have experienced some form of trauma and are continuing to feel its effects on thier life. I specialize in working with dissociative disorders and particularly complex trauma. Complex trauma can be difficult to recover from because most often, the people who have harmed us were also the people who took care of us, making it doubly confusing. Complex trauma can be subtle—we can’t always point to a specific incident or even anything that seems that terrible. Often it has its origins in something called “attachment trauma” and can cause us to have lifelong depression, anxiety, self-harm behaviors, unstable relationships, a tendency toward substance abuse, and a deep sense of self-doubt and self-loathing. I have found that most of us who are truly interested in treating trauma are survivors of trauma ourselves. This is certainly the case for me. I have invested many years in my own work to understand the role that trauma had played in my life and recover from it. It is this knowledge that I use to help you recover form your own pain. I understand the process of healing from trauma and can help you come to a much better place. I use Somatic Psychology as the primary modality for healing, which means I pay a lot of attention to what is happening in the body in the present moment. Our body is the keep of traumatic memory, not our brain, so it is essential that we use it in the work we do to recover together.  I  have been in private practice since 2011.  Please e-mail me or call me for a free consultation.

Rebecca Barrett

Rebecca Barrett

LMHCA, LSWAIC

I specialize in working with religious trauma as my parents joined the LDS (Mormon) church when I was five years old, and I grew up a fully believing member. I felt peace in the legalistic structure and orthodox teachings of Mormonism and belonging in the community. I was actively engaged throughout my life, marrying in the temple and passionately dedicating every day of my life in the service of others.

When I returned to college in my 40s, I opened myself to ideas I’d never been exposed to before and began to analyze my beliefs from a less biased lens. I became aware of unhealthy relationship dynamics in my community and conditioned fear, obligation and shame within myself. I outgrew my lifelong faith and began shedding layers of trauma and self-doubt.

Now I am no longer Mormon but embrace sovereignty over my life decisions. I delight in authentic relationships and feel fully able to offer unconditional love to all. It is my passion to help others who have experienced religious trauma or spiritual abuse. Questioning or leaving a high demand group is not a journey for wimps! You may be struggling with your identity, career, relationships, spirituality, morals, gender or sexuality, what you eat, how you spend your time, and the list goes on and on.

My goal is that you will feel accepted and validated being your true self whether you are seeking to heal toxic patterns or to implement positive changes. I provide a nonjudgmental, safe place for you to explore the changes that are healthiest and doable for you. I am flexible and will check in with you regularly regarding what does or does not work for you.

I earned my Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University and my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Western Washington University. I am currently an LMHCA and LSWAIC in Washington state and a member of National Association of Social Workers WA. I am fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Hypnotherapy.

I have experience working with individuals that might be struggling with narcissistic abuse, acute and complex trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, codependence, communication, and boundaries. My approach is eclectic and holistic including Systems theory, Strengths-based theory, and Humanistic theory. I offer a variety of treatment modalities including Client-centered therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, hypnotherapy and more depending on your needs.

At your own pace, I will help you gain insight, improve resilience, and stay focused on your goals. I encourage healthy coping skills and self-care to improve your ability to function. I advocate for setting healthy boundaries, building self-awareness, and finding balance in your life so you feel empowered to not only survive, but to thrive!

LMHC

I specialize in working with anxiety, dissociative disorders and religious trauma. I currently have a private practice in Tacoma, Washington.

I have been a therapist helping people since 1999. I help people work through  PTSD, religious trauma, depression, anxiety, repetitive negative behavior patterns, end-of-life transition, grief & loss, adjustment to physical disabilities, bipolar depression (depression & mania), suicidal tendencies, and a variety of other issues.

I started my private practice in 2007, and hold a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University. I have discovered from my own inner work and personal trauma recovery that the power to heal is within oneself. My personal inner work has also sent me on a deeper exploration of the teachings of meditation and mindfulness.

I have had formal meditation training based within many ancient religious traditions since 2000 and have studied, practiced, and taught numerous techniques of meditation and mindfulness. By utilizing and combining the methods of mindfulness with western counseling techniques I have born witness to my own healing as well as healing in the clients I serve. In working with others, I draw not only upon my education, but also upon my experience of being a father and from immersing myself in cross cultural understandings of consciousness. I have studied with teachers on the nature of consciousness here and in such cultures as Peru, Spain and South Korea, as well as personal explorations in nature.
I believe that I can help you to go into difficult psychological places and hold a safe space for you. I believe I can help you to be honest in a way that you may have found difficult with others. I strive to always come from a place of integrity, personally and professionally, and to guide others from the same place.

I have over 35 years experience teaching mindfulness, meditation and working in the Mental Health field. I can help you if you struggle with trauma, nightmares, anxiety and panic attacks.  I know it is possible to heal and find peace because I struggled myself with early childhood trauma and was able to work through it with the help of others. For this reason, I never ask my clients to do something, i.e. use a method that I have not done or worked with myself. I strongly believe one must walk their talk and live in integrity to feel healthy. I specialize in depersonalization, religious trauma, cultural identity struggles and dissociative disorders; I have found through many years of work in the field that using Somatic psychology to treat PTSD and other forms of trauma. I have been blessed to have traveled and lived in many countries and to have had the opportunity to have studied cross cultural psychology experientially. I have studied with various indigenous teachers about the nature of consciousness in many cultures. I have studied psychedelic indigenous medicine in the Amazon jungle of Columbia since 1999. I have also traveled through India, Europe, Canada, Latin America, Mexico and Turkey studying the psychological teachings contained in the religious teachings, histories, sacred sites and art of these cultures.  I have studied and practiced classical Meditation methods for over 35 years. As well I have over 6 years of formal meditation and mindfulness training from Buddhist and Christian Monasteries.I have integrated this learning over time into the work I do with clients and can offer very unique perspectives. I am also offering clinical trainings and supervision for working with religious trauma. I currently work internationally, and live in the US, Vietnam and Thailand.  For more detailed about me click on the linked in link below for my complete work history or to go to my individual website.
